Artist Ashleigh Anderson
Hi! My name is Ashleigh. As a self-taught oil painter, I became the artist I am today through trial and error, excessive amounts of art books, YouTube videos, and many years of hard work. I live in Fair Oaks, California with my husband and 5 children. I have a passion for both creating and teaching art. I currently teach group classes at On The GO Academy in Citrus Heights. I also offer local private lessons to all ages from kindergarten to adult.
My painting journey began in December of 2015 when my family introduced me to the show “The Joy of Painting”- Bob Ross. After the first episode, I was hooked and we went out and bought all the supplies I needed to get started. Bob Ross awoke my love of painting, but I desired to create more realistic paintings. This prompted my , lifelong journey to learn everything I could about oil-painting and fundamental art techniques.
My second passion is to share everything I've learned with others and help my students develop their own personal styles. It's incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow in confidence and see the joy on their faces as they explore and learn the wonderful world of art.
I enjoy painting all subjects, but landscapes are my first and greatest love. Plein air painting (painting outside from life), is my favorite way to study the landscape. It allows me to accurately see light, shadow, and colors and how they interact together.
