Artist Ashleigh Anderson

My Artistic Journey

The beauty of nature serves as a constant source of inspiration for my art. My work focuses on capturing depth through light and values. While I enjoy painting all subjects, landscapes are my first and greatest love. Plein air painting is my favorite way to study nature. It allows me to accurately observe light, shadow, and color and see how they interact together. Through my paintings, I strive to portray the splendor of the outdoors and inspire viewers to feel a sense of connection and wonder.

Teaching and Mentorship

I have a passion for both creating and teaching art. I currently offer group classes, workshops, a Studio Mentorship Group, and private lessons for students of all ages. It is incredibly rewarding to watch my students grow in confidence and see the joy on their faces as they explore and learn the wonderful world of art. It is my passion and privilege to share my love for oil painting with our community.

Professional Recognition

With over ten years of professional experience as an artist, I'm deeply committed to the local art community. My work has been recognized in several regional exhibitions including a Second Place award in the State Fair Plein Air Contest, an Honorable Mention for a landscape piece at the Sacramento Fine Arts Center, and a recent People's Choice Award. In addition to my studio practice and mentorship, I actively support the arts as a board member and newsletter editor for Northern California Arts, Inc.

Family and Community

When I'm not in the studio or painting outdoors, I'm enjoying life in Fair Oaks, California, with my husband and our five children. Balancing a professional art career with the lively energy of a large household has taught me that prioritizing creativity does not require endless free hours. It's about finding joy in small pockets of time and stepping up to the easel whenever possible. Looking ahead, my goals include expanding my series of paintings focused on US National Parks and continuing to grow my local teaching programs. I'm dedicated to building a vibrant, supportive art community in our area.
