Artist Ashleigh Anderson
Hi! My name is Ashleigh. I'm a self-taught oil painter, learning mostly from trial and error, excessive amounts of art books, and watching other artists online. I live in Fair Oaks, California with my husband and 5 children. I have a passion for both creating and teaching art. I currently teach group classes at On The GO Academy in Citrus Heights. I also offer local private lessons to all ages from kindergarten to adult.
My painting journey began in December of 2017 , when my family introduced me to the show “The Joy of Painting”- Bob Ross. After the first episode, I was hooked and we went out and bought all the supplies I needed to get started: as a Christmas gift of course. Fast forward a year or two, I was still having a great time painting, but I was also frustrated. I wanted my paintings to look more realistic. This prompted my ongoing, lifelong journey of studying, practicing and learning everything I can about oil-painting and fundamental art techniques.
Now, my passion is in sharing everything I have learned with others and helping my students develop their own personal styles. It is especially rewarding to watch my students grow in confidence and see the joy on their faces as the explore the wonderful world of art.
In the future, I plan to create a painting course specifically focused on how to paint realistic fantasy art. Hint: It all begins with learning the fundamentals. I find painting something that doesn't actually exist very rewarding and challenging. My hope is that by creating a complete course that teaches everything I have learned on the subject, I will make the process easier and more fun for emerging artists.
